Dimitris Kolefas was born in Athens, Greece in 1974 and studied classical guitar and music theory up to diploma level. After a decade of teaching and playing rock and blues, he was introduced to jazz music by listening to Joe Pass and Pat Martino records. These two guitarists have influenced and inspired him, along with rock players Randy Rhoads and Joe Satriani. He has a Diploma in electric guitar from the Berklee International School (Athens, Philippos Nakas Conservatory) and a Master’s degree (MA) in Jazz music performance from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. He lives in Cardiff, Wales and teaches music to schools and privately. Also he performs regularly with various bands as a session musician, playing different styles, from Rock, Pop, Jazz and traditional Greek music.
